Spirit of Sri Lanka: Colors, Culture, and Connection at Cultural Day 2025
I was part of the booth team, and from the very beginning, we were busy setting things up — arranging decorations, making sure everything looked vibrant, and adding those little details that represented the culture we were showcasing. It was a mix of colours, crafts, and a lot of last-minute adjustments, but seeing everything come together gave me a real sense of pride.
Beyond decorations, I also took part in the activities, such as a few booth games, as well as serving the different foods found back in Sri Lanka, such as Kottu roti and Achcharu. Our booth attracted people who were curious and excited to learn, and it felt great to interact with them, explain our displays, and share a few cultural insights. Even with just a handful of us managing things, we worked together so smoothly — from setting up to engaging with visitors to enjoying the performances and food from other groups.
What stood out the most to me was the team spirit. A small group means everyone has to step up, and that’s exactly what we did. We laughed and got a little tired, but also felt accomplished by the end of the day.
Cultural Day wasn’t just an event — it was a reminder of how meaningful it is to celebrate diversity and learn from each other. I’m so glad I was part of it, and I’m already looking forward to the next one!
